The Malaysian government has announced an increase in the e-Invoice exemption threshold from RM1 million to RM3 million, effective 1 September 2026.
The higher threshold is aimed to reduce the compliance burden for qualifying businesses with revenue of below RM3 million, allowing them more time to prepare for e-Invoice implementation.
Nevertheless, businesses should not assume that the exemption applies automatically. Eligibility remains subject to prescribed conditions, and each business should undertake an assessment to assess its eligibility.
